Foundational Obedience

Climbing a mountain can be quite the daunting and rewarding task, but it begins with the first steps. It all starts here with foundational obedience (FOB) at K9 Azimuth. Start building an enriching training culture for both ends of the leash. From this education you can grow as a team to advanced obedience or working disciplines.
FOB packages are for dogs 4+ months old (see below for puppy imprinting programs)

What FOB Covers:​

  • Learn about dog psychology.

​

  • Understand training culture: we want dogs invested in the process of learning with you long term.

​

  • Build markers for rewarding good decisions and progressions in training.

​

  • Learn how to condition the leash as a directional language. Tactile pressure should be both a gas pedal and a brake, allowing you to coach and communicate.

​

  • Understand scaffolded process to build behaviors with heart and soul.

​

  • Transition behaviors into structured commands.

​

  • Emphasis will be placed on establishing five primary utility commands EVERYONE should master.

​

  • Learn how to proof and generalize skills for practical (real life) application and/or behavior modification.

Package FOB 1

(Self-Study): Enroll in our affiliated video series and work through the program on your own at home through the video learning portal "Work Your Pack."

Package FOB 2

(With live online coaching): Enroll in our affiliated video series and work through the program on your own at home through the video learning portal "Work Your Pack." Sign into online classroom for four private lessons! Submit videos for critique and review and jumpstart your training culture journey from anywhere in South Dakota (or the world). 

$450 + TAX

Package FOB 3

(With in-person coaching): This package includes our affiliated video series and four private in-person lessons. Package includes a cot and a Herm Sprenger prong collar.

$800 + TAX

ATTENTION: NOT BOOKING BOARD AND TRAIN PROGRAMS AT THIS TIME. ONLY BOOKING FOB 1-3 PROGRAMS

Package FOB 4

(Three-week board and train with weekend send-home): This package includes our affiliated video series and a three-week Monday - Friday schedule board and train. Your dog will live on site during the week learning new skills and communication systems. Come out for a private lesson on Fridays and take skills home to practice over the weekend. Package includes a cot and a Herm Sprenger prong collar. Course includes three private lessons + one refresher lesson at K9 Azimuth.

Package FOB 5

(Three-week straight through board and train): This package is best suited for dogs with more severe behavioral/aggression issues or for clients who want us to give the most immersive jumpstart to new training culture. Your dog will live on site for duration of program learning new skills and communication systems. Package includes a cot and a Herm Sprenger prong collar. You will get our affiliated video course and three private lessons + one refresher lesson with this program.
